Survivor · Ready for the Next Chapter
Not every classic is meant to be admired from the driveway. This 1967 Amphicar Model 770, finished in its original red, was built by Hans Trippel’s Quandt Group in Lübeck, West Germany — the same engineering lineage that produced the Volkswagen Schwimmwagen for wartime amphibious operations. Production ran from 1961 to 1965, with the majority of roughly 4,000 examples destined for U.S. buyers.
Presented as a preserved survivor with original paint, body, mechanicals, and interior. Additional documentation available from the seller upon request. Buyer is encouraged to arrange a personal inspection or a professional pre-purchase inspection at the vehicle’s location before bidding.
Ownership includes entry into one of the most passionate communities in the collector world — the “Amphicar Guppies,” an active owners’ network that hosts “Swim-Ins” and events across the country year-round. Parts and technical support remain robust decades after production ended.
The Amphicar’s charm is its improbability — a vehicle that will absolutely draw a crowd wherever it goes, on the road or in the water. Serious inquiries welcomed.
